2026 Top 10 College
Admissions Consulting Services In The U.S.
Our 2026 rankings score every firm out of 100 points on verified third-party reviews, published admissions results, value for investment, web presence and national media recognition. New this year: a results-transparency sub-metric that rewards firms for publishing the school-level data behind their success claims.
Spark Admissions
Spark Admissions is the most transparent firm in this ranking, and the only one that publishes school-by-school acceptance rates alongside the number of students who applied. Across the 2020 to 2025 cycles its clients were admitted at 44% to Harvard against a 3% national rate, 54% to Brown against 5%, and 50% to Stanford against 4%, an application-weighted advantage factor of 8.4x. Founded in 2013 near Boston by Dr. Rachel Rubin and Rachel Blankstein, the firm holds a perfect 5.0 rating across 163 Google reviews, the highest verified rating in the field.
Empowerly
Empowerly pairs a large counselor network with a data-driven admissions platform, and carries the deepest verified review base in this ranking: 481 Google reviews at 4.9 and 471 Trustpilot reviews at 4.8. The firm reports an 11x admissions advantage and a 98% rate into a top-100 college, but publishes no school-level data behind those figures, which is what costs it the full Results score.
Solomon Admissions
Solomon Admissions fields over 100 former admissions officers who have collectively reviewed more than 700,000 applications. Its reported 6.3x Ivy Plus advantage is independently verified by BPM Accounting for the 2024 to 2025 cycle, making it one of only three firms here to publish school-level acceptance data. 434 Trustpilot reviews at 4.7.
InGenius Prep
InGenius Prep runs a 2-on-1 model that pairs each student with a former admissions officer and a graduate coach. The firm reports a 19.9% top-10 admit rate and a 7x advantage at top-30 schools, and publishes its methodology in an open research journal. A strong verified reputation, 250 Google reviews at 4.8 and 270 Trustpilot at 4.9, is offset by premium $40,000 to $60,000 packages that weigh on value.
College Wise
Collegewise is the best value in this ranking, with published rates starting at $190 per hour and comprehensive packages from $8,000, a fraction of what most firms here charge. Now in its 27th year with more than 36,000 families guided, it reports 98% of students admitted to a top-five choice. 624 Trustpilot reviews at 4.9.
College Transitions
College Transitions runs the strongest research and content operation in the field, ranking for over 182,000 organic keywords and drawing an estimated 154,000 monthly visits, more than any other firm here. Its data-driven approach produces the annual Colleges Worth Your Money guide. The firm reports a 5x advantage and 98% of students admitted to a top-three choice, with 154 verified reviews averaging 4.9.
IvyWise
IvyWise has the widest media footprint of any firm in this ranking, with named coverage across 27 tier-one national outlets, and a team that includes former Deans and Directors of Admission from Yale, Princeton and MIT. Founded in 1998, it reports a 6x advantage at top universities. Rates of $1,000 to $3,000 per hour make it the most expensive option here, which is what holds down its value score.
Command Education
Command Education matches students with full-time Senior Mentors from Ivy League backgrounds, and publishes a detailed 26-school acceptance table averaging a 4.9x advantage, which is genuine transparency. Its hourly rate dropped sharply to $325 in 2026, improving value considerably. The firm’s weak point is verified reputation: just 7 Trustpilot reviews and no Google Business Profile.
Top Tier Admissions
Top Tier Admissions built its reputation on the 20-year-old Application Boot Camp, an intensive four-day program that reports a 95% first or second-choice acceptance rate. The firm has real search visibility and national media coverage, but publishes no advantage-factor data and has no verified third-party review base on Google, Trustpilot or Yelp, which is what places it near the bottom of this ranking.
Admissionado
Admissionado has reviewed more than 35,000 applications since 2007 and reports a 5.3x advantage, though only at colleges admitting 15% to 35% of applicants. Package pricing is among the most transparent here, from $4,440 to $10,940. The firm explicitly declines to publish acceptance statistics and has no verified consumer review base for its college division, which caps both its Results and Reputation scores.

College Admissions Consultant FAQs
The questions families ask us most, answered with the 2026 ranking data.
Who is the best college admissions consultant in 2026?
Spark Admissions ranks first in our 2026 rankings with 92 out of 100. It is the only firm we rank that publishes school-by-school acceptance rates alongside the number of students who applied, which works out to an application-weighted advantage factor of 8.4x, and it holds a 5.0 average across 163 verified Google reviews. Empowerly ranks second with 82 points and Solomon Admissions third with 81.
How much does a college admissions consultant cost?
Across the ten firms we rank in 2026, published rates run from $190 per hour at Collegewise to $3,000 per hour at IvyWise. Comprehensive packages range from roughly $4,440 at Admissionado to $59,998 for the top Spark Admissions tier, and a few firms quote six-figure multi-year retainers. Most firms publish no rates at all and quote only after a consultation, so ask for a written fee schedule before you commit.
Are college admissions consultants worth it?
It depends on the firm and on what it can actually prove. Every firm in our 2026 ranking reports that its students are admitted at several times the national rate, but only three publish the school-level data behind that claim, and only one publishes the applicant counts as well. Treat an unverified multiplier as marketing. Ask any firm you are considering for its acceptance rate at specific schools, the number of students who applied to each, and which students it leaves out of the figures.
How does TopCollegeConsultants.org rank firms?
Each firm is scored out of 100 points: verified third-party reviews on Google and Trustpilot (30 points), published admissions results and results transparency (40), value for investment measured as advantage factor divided by hourly rate (20), organic search presence measured in Semrush (5), and named coverage in tier-one national media (5). New for 2026, ten of the forty results points are awarded for transparency, meaning publishing school-level acceptance rates, the underlying applicant counts, and either an explicit inclusion rule or third-party verification.
Do firms pay to appear in these rankings?
No. No firm can pay for inclusion, for a higher position, or to be removed. Every input comes from publicly available sources: Google and Trustpilot review profiles, the firms' own published results and pricing pages, Semrush organic search data, and named coverage in national media. All figures for this edition were collected in August 2026.
